Missed calls, lost revenue
A call to voicemail is often a customer already dialing the next business on the list.
AI phone answering for local business
I build, tune, and manage a 24/7 receptionist that's always ready to answer, books the job, and emails you a summary of every call it answers, apart from spam, so you never lose another customer to voicemail.
From $449/mo
Calls are recorded.
This is my demo line. Call it yourself.
Or dial (628) 338-2860 and hear the AI receptionist live. It answers for a sample business, so try booking a service, asking a question, or reporting an emergency.
The problem
Most local businesses lose work because the phone rang at the wrong moment, not bad service.
A call to voicemail is often a customer already dialing the next business on the list.
Staff can't greet the person in front of them and answer every ringing line at once.
Callers want a fast, helpful response, not a callback hours later.
Evenings and weekends draw plenty of calls, and that's exactly when no one answers.
General customer research on response expectations. These are not Wharfline results.
What lands on your phone
Not a monthly report. Here's the actual email that lands in your inbox the moment a call ends.

This is a sample, not a real client’s call. It’s the real shape of the email I send for every call the receptionist answers, apart from the ones it classifies as spam: who called, what they wanted, and a number to call them back on. When your criteria mark a call urgent, the subject line carries [URGENT] and the outcome row says so.
The ledger
Not a features list. A plain account of what you're buying, checked line by line against the Service Agreement.
Works with your calendar: Google Calendar, Outlook / Microsoft 365, or Apple iCloud Calendar. It checks the calendar for times you're already busy, then books the appointment into it.
The receptionist states that the call is recorded in the first sentence of every call. That line is built into the script, before anything else it says. Ask it whether you're speaking to a person and it tells you plainly that it's an automated assistant.
How it works
I aim to have your receptionist live in about a week once the clock starts. The clock starts when your intake form is complete and your first payment is in, and the exact time depends on how complex your setup is.
I map your services, hours, FAQs, and booking rules so the receptionist knows how you work.
I craft a custom script, voice, and call flows, then test it until it handles real calls cleanly.
Calls get answered, booked, and summarized automatically, and I keep tuning it over time.
Who it's for
If your business runs on phone calls and bookings, Wharfline fits right in.
Pricing
Straightforward monthly plans for a receptionist I build, tune, and run for you, sized to how many calls you take.
$449/mo
For the solo operator who can't answer while on the job.
$749/mo
For the growing crew losing calls during the busy season.
$1,149/mo
For multi tech shops with steady call volume.
Every plan is fully managed. I build, tune, and monitor it for you, with a client dashboard so you can see every call it answers whenever you want. On Pro, priority support means your requests are worked ahead of Starter and Growth requests in my queue. It is not a 24/7 support desk and not a guaranteed response time, on any plan. There is no setup fee right now. No long term contract, cancel anytime.
Your first month is guaranteed. If the receptionist is not right for your business, ask within 30 days of going live, or within 60 days of your first payment, whichever comes first, and I refund your first month in full and cancel the service. If I have not brought your receptionist live within 60 days of your first payment, you can cancel and take the full first-month refund at any time until I do.
A call counts toward your allowance if it lasted at least 15 seconds and the platform that runs your receptionist did not classify it as spam. Those two tests are the whole rule: a shorter call never counts, and a longer one counts unless the spam filter catches it. My system does not judge why someone called, so once a call runs past 15 seconds it cannot tell a wrong number, a misdial, or a silent line from a genuine enquiry, and those calls count. I do not cut your calls off when you reach your allowance, and your service continues normally. If your volume runs above it, my first step is to talk to you about moving to a plan that fits. I also reserve the right to bill for calls above your monthly allowance at $1.50 per call. I will not charge overage without telling you in advance, and I will not apply it retroactively to a period that has already ended.
Plans are a starting point. I scope add-ons like email follow ups to your business, and confirm the details on your consultation call. There is no setup fee right now.

Yes. It checks your calendar for times you are already busy and books into it with the right service and time. If you schedule jobs in a field-service app, new bookings land in your calendar and your email, not in the app. I connect your calendar during onboarding and test a real booking before you go live.
It's built to take a detailed message rather than guess. You set the rules, and every call it answers is logged so nothing is lost. I review real calls and tune it continuously, and if something goes wrong, I fix it fast.
Yes, to a number you designate. When a caller asks to speak to a person, it transfers the call to the number you gave me during onboarding. You set that number and you can change it at any time. If you would rather it take a message instead, I configure it that way. On a call your emergency criteria treat as urgent it does something different: it gives the relevant safety instruction, takes the details, and tells the caller someone will be in touch. It does not transfer an urgent call.

No. You keep your existing number and forward calls to the receptionist, so your published number never changes.
Completely. It's trained on your services, hours, policies, and tone, and I adjust it anytime you add a service or change something.
Support them. It backs up your team on the calls they can't get to, like overflow, after hours, and weekends, and it can run the line on its own if you don't have a front desk.
It uses a natural, human sounding voice, and most callers just get helped. It states that the call is recorded in the first sentence of every call, and if a caller asks whether they're speaking to a person, it says plainly that it's an automated assistant. When a caller needs a person, it takes their details so you can follow up. Call (628) 338-2860 to hear it live.
Who builds it
No call center and no offshore team. I write the scripts, tune the voice, and review the calls, so if something's off, I'm the one who fixes it.
I have a B.S. in Computer Science. I've worked with AI professionally for over a year.
Hear it for yourself: call (628) 338-2860. It answers live as the AI receptionist for a sample business, so try booking a service, asking a question, or reporting an emergency.
